Our police cruisers are our patrol officers offices (whew, say that five times fast). Inside those cruisers is where our crews complete their incident reports, crash reports, affidavits, arrest custody reports, and they use the tools provided them to search criminal histories, etc. Our officers sometimes take multiple reports in a shift which leaves them typing and preparing reports for a long period of time. This is why you may see them sitting for a period of time. To give you an idea, a single vehicle crash with no injuries can be 4 pages of information, along with a diagram and a narrative of how the crash occurred. Other reports can be much longer. With that in mind, when a lone officer is typing a report the officer is often busy and he/she is not always totally aware of their surroundings, another reason they sometimes meet and park together. Two officers parked together have a 360 degree field of view and there is more awareness of their surroundings. Because of recent threats towards police all over the country, we are encouraging the officers to pair up when completing paperwork. This is for their safety, because we kind of like our officers. Please dont tell them because it will go to their heads 😉. I tell you this because we want to provide you an understanding of why when you see them sitting together. I also tell you this because I often see comments about the cops sitting and doing nothing on other social networking sites. If you doubt what they are doing please remember this. They are monitored by cruiser cameras, computer aided dispatch, GPS on their cars, and their activity monitored by statistical information to see if they are falling within the averages. Thanks for your understanding. Again, we appreciate the awesome support of our community and we are PROUD to serve.
