Our principal wanted to share this awesome email, sent by a community member just before the winter break. Just one more great example of the quality leadership being developed in our AJROTC program. From: Jennifer Hoppe Sent: Friday, December 12, 2014 8:15 AM To: MichaelLovings; William Mercado Subject: Regarding one of your students My name is Jennifer Hoppe. Yesterday (Thursday 12/11) at around 4:45pm, I ran out of gas on the corner of El Cajon Blvd and Menlo Ave. I was extremely frustrated, as the back end of my Jeep was sticking out into the intersection, and I had my children in the car- the youngest just a month old. One of your uniform clad students was walking along the sidewalk, saw my predicament, and asked me if I needed a push to a safer area. Instantly, my frustration was gone. This was more kindness than I could ever have expected from a high school student. With teens today being obsessed with their phones and computers and seemingly with themselves (i.e. taking selfies), it was a breath of fresh air to see a young cadet offer a complete stranger help. It wouldnt have been easy, pushing a heavy car is not an easy job! But regardless of that, he still offered. It was kind, responsible, and chivalrous. I must commend you Sirs for teaching such amazing students. My JROTC Commanders left a lasting impression on me and my drive to be a better person well past high school, and it is obvious by this student that you are doing the same to yours. Thank you for the work that you do. And though I did not get the cadets name, I wish I could thank him as well. I hope you can find who he is, and give him my gratitude. Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Jennifer K. Hoppe
