Our ranch exists as a place for out cattle to spend their summer months on high desert irrigated pasture, and has been fully stocked since early May 2013. Most of the families in the upper Klamath basin water shed have cattle here year round. We were given notice last Thursday morning by the Oregon Water Resources Department, that despite our 1864 adjudicated water rights, we MUST stop all irrigation to maintain "in stream flows". The same notice was given to all neighbors in the upper Sprague River area. We are told that all diversions above Klamath lake (about 100,00 acres) must cease diversions in order to maintain "in stream flows" to Klamath Lake. Economic impact to Klamath County to follow...
