Our reporter Valérie Gauriat has just left Gaza. She dedicates this message to all the crew who risked their lives in the field: Back in the safety of my home, I see the war raging in Gaza on TV now. And cant help thinking of the outstanding crews I have worked with. In Israel, Ayman the cameraman and editor, and Assaf the fixer and Hebrew translator, worked side by side, restlessly and impartially. Special tribute to the crew in Gaza: Dervish and Hassan, two cameramen who relayed with each other when Dervish learned that his house had been bombed, and a relative had sadly passed away. He came back to work with me 2 days later. On one occasion, they both shared the work, always alert, accurate, and standing together. Ghassan, most dedicated fixer, who did not spare efforts in all circumstances, for us to complete the work at best we could. Ahmed, a talented editor who along with Ghassan was ready to work long hours for us to get the job done, though taking risks when going back home late. And finally Mohammed, with both sorrow and joy in his eyes constantly, who always made sure we got to every destination safely, even one evening when he and I were briefly stopped at gunpoint by Hamas vigils, as he was taking me back to my hotel. I wish all of them to stay safe with their families, and live to see peace in their region.
