Our series on “Setting the Record Straight” is gathering momentum. We have just arranged to host Martin Sherman, Jerusalem Post columnist at the Israel Center in Jerusalem on Monday, 27th October. Martin Sherman is especially well-known for his brilliant, not always appreciated, commentary on Israel’s governance and the conflict with Israel’s neighbors. I would suggest that you make a note of this date and begin to consider reserving a seat. We had our second talk in this series with Professor Richard Landes at the Israel Center on Tuesday, Aug 26th. The audience was quite riveted with his talk and audio-visual presentation on the subject of “Hamas’s Main Strategic Weapon – the Media.” I opened the evening with a short talk on the connection between falsehood and the way Israel’s enemies and other detractors and the international community of nations in tandem with the media, break every rule of integrity in their relationship with Israel. Our aim in presenting this series on “Setting the Record Straight” is to help counter the increasingly nasty public, diplomatic and economic assault against Israel. To do this we need to be well acquainted with relevant knowledge and follow a number of guidelines regarding how to talk with people on controversial issues.
