Our son Thomas and nephew were in a bad atv accident, so we have a lot of people we need to thank and to ask you all for some much needed prayers. My parents picked the boys up to help them out with some projects on Irish Hill, so after they worked hard all day they went for an atv ride and weren’t going fast or doing anything wrong and had their helmets on, just got too close to the edge of the path where my Uncle had stakes and taped off where the hillside was eroding and the ground gave way and they rolled it down a ten foot embankment. Nobody can prepare you for the call that your son’s been in an accident, he’s lost some teeth and the first responders have him on a stretcher board until the ambulance arrives. Thank God my friend Karen was right there when I got the call and offered to drive Lauren and I to Wilson...Russ went straight from his work. Thank you to my nephew who ran up a huge mountain side in spite of his pain to get Thomas help, thank you to the neighbors for calling 911 and caring for Thomas. Thank you to the large number of Rush first responders and firemen who showed up prepared for a search and rescue (most of whom I’m proud to say are my cousins, love you guys!). Thank you to the Minute Men, you have no idea how comforting it is to see people you know and trust in a time like that. My nephew is super sore but good, thank God! MIRACLE PART: Thomas wasn’t talking much in the ER because of the pain and his mouth injury, but he looked at us and Russ’ siblings and mine all crammed in his room and said, “Mom, Brendan (who’s 6’2”) couldn’t lift the 4 wheeler off me, and when he went to get help God helped me lift the 4 wheeler straight up in the air with one arm so I could get out.” Total miracle, that 4 wheeler is huge, not a small one. So he has a broken toe, his elbow is broken and we were told needs surgery for pins or screws but we may get away without...will know for sure in 2 weeks, and his upper and lower jaws are fractured and his teeth I won’t even describe. He’s been a trooper though, he’s one of the strongest people I know mentally and physically so he has been amazing through it all. Russ has been a rock and keeps saying we’ll do whatever it takes, Lauren never left Thomas’ side, and Mike drove up from Philly with protein shakes to take care of and check on his little bro too. Literally too many names to thank in this process, just know we all appreciate everything beyond words and will forever be grateful and include you all in our prayers. So now just asking for prayers for my sweet nephew to heal emotionally and for Thomas to heal as well, especially during the complicated process for his mouth. THANK YOU!!
