Prayer for Police Officers- “Heavenly Father, I lay myself before your highest glory and give thanks for the great blessing that you have bestowed upon me. It is in your service and for your glory that I dutifully and honorably take up arms against the prevailing darkness that plagues our earthly existence and preys upon the innocent, impoverished and oppressed. I humbly beseech you to walk with me in the pursuit of my calling; a calling sanctified in your Son’s word, “Blessed are the Peacemakers.” Bless me with strength born of knowledge and fill me with grace, forgiveness, and mercy in a righteous search for truth and justice. Arm me with the patience of Job, the strength of Samson, the courage of David, and the wisdom of Solomon as I venture into lawless lands to perform my daily duties. Shield me, comfort me, and relieve me of any burden of fear as I battle those who visit evil upon me and those I’ve sworn to protect. And if my enemy is strong, temper my sword with your justice and let it be quick and righteously thrust against his thunder. And when my day is done, reunite me with my band of brothers and sisters and return me safely to my family and loved ones. But Lord, if it is your will that I fall in battle, then I pray that you assuage the grief of my loved ones. Send angels to give them solace in knowing that I joyfully served you in the cause of justice with all my heart and soul. I ask this in the holy name of your beloved Son and my Savior, Jesus Christ.” Amen
