Our vet visit yesterday was a HUGE SUCCESS. Aside from it completely exhausting me to take 3 fearful dogs who all had to be carried to the car, into the clinic, and back out to the car (all 30, 35, and 40 lbs of them!), they were all deemed very healthy and all 3 did much better than I would have anticipated.... Kira and Zena crouched in a corner at first but within MINUTES were creeping out for treats. Even got some tail wags. They were terrified while the vet was examining them but did take treats from him! When he left the room they even wandered around the room, giving me lots of tail wags and begging for treats! :-) Casper was just amazing. (See pics) Still timid but went right up to the vet and took treats. Lots of tail wags and treat eating. LOL. Aside from some skin issues and being a little underweight he seems healthy. If you live in Raleigh and have a shy/fearful dog (or know someone who does) I SO recommend Dr. Szabo at Hidden Valley Animal hospital. He has such a calm demeanor, doesnt force animals (especially fearful ones) and really RESPECTS an owners need to reassure their pets. The FIRST thing he does is break out treats because he wants to ensure they have a positive experience at the vet. Ive been with him for 16 years, have tried other vets along the way for the rescue animals, and have always ended back there because of his remarkable demeanor and of course knowledge/skill. I will not stray again. ;-)
