Our visit to the Archers studio in Brum has left me mulling over - TopicsExpress

Our visit to the Archers studio in Brum has left me mulling over the story development process even more than usual (or healthy, or economically productive). Lovely Sean showed us the spot where Nigel fell to his dooooooooom, thus SATTC, or not as it turns out. Did Nigel die so that NSBL could have an affair with Roy of the Racists, I wondered? Will the fallout from that SATTC? Or is it just the actual Brokefailed Archers that will give a flying wotsit? Anyway, my point was that I think we listen because the slow burn stories (e.g. the year or so it took for the Brahn / Shovehorn thing to work its way through), not for sensationalist and unrealistic storylines. For example, it seems odd to remove the Tuckers, when presumably their Downs baby was introduced to allow a long term developing SL. Ditto R&H - boring, yes, but true to their characters and as much part of the glue that holds TA together as Kenton or Brahn or La Snell. Repeatedly we complain that characters act out of character, so in order to assist the scripties with their forward planning, I propose a little game; a serious one this time. Choose a character. What will they be doing in a years time? Ten years time? I know the usual suspects (yes, Gerard, I do mean you) will take the piss but I am genuinely interested to know what we think characters could and should do with their lives in Ambridge. We know what kind of person they are - so what would *we* write for them, in a long term story arc?
