Our work continues in the Jones State Game Area (SGA), which straddles the rural landscape of Cass and St. Joseph counties and is made up of the Crane Pond SGA and the Three Rivers SGA. This area is a headwaters region for five distinct watersheds with an incredible abundance of water resources that to the St. Joseph River. The lakes support high-quality sport fishing, and the wetlands provide habitat for species that are state threatened or of special concern. The groundwater-fed lake shown here is Kirk Lake in the Crane Pond SGA. The thriving fen shown in the other photo is in the Three Rivers SGA. Working with multiple partners to improve water quality and habitat for wildlife remains high on our list of priorities.
