Out On The Pike Thursday, July 3, 2014. Remember yesterday I said it had been a long time since the cats had slept with us? Yeah, well, this morning I woke up with three on them laying between by legs and on me. Then one joined them who head butted and bit me. I shouldnt have said anything about cats at all yesterday. Dang. Its all good, I like the cats and we kept each other warm. At least none of them where laying on my head or face today. You are right though, Im late. I slept late and woke late. I actually slept for five and a half hours last night. Its Ma who has had the insomnia. Its a gray day today here with expected rain on the way. Its 60f/16c with a 1mph/3km/h wind moving. It feels chilly. Not bad, just cool. The high is supposed to be 72f here. Traffic on the interstate is quiet this morning except the semis and the pike has normal traffic for the morning. Plans for the day will be a quick tour and completion of the household routine. Then make sure that the chickens are resupplied with water, feed, etc. We need to pick up some new bedding to put in there. I was hoping it wouldnt rain and it would be nice today. I wanted to use the old wringer washer to do some clothes outside and hang them on the line. Oh well. After doing those things well head down to Straughn where we will pick up Cindy and Sherry and head to Connersville to check out a store down there for seniors. They will return home with us, if it isnt raining, and pick more raspberries. Then this evening well make a trip to Mount Summit to pick up Elijah for a three day weekend. Today is Elijahs seventh birthday. Weve got to make a run to Cambridge City to pick him up a present. Its going to be fun watching him tear into his stuff. Our son spoils him rotten. Ma and I would never do that... he, he, he. Ma keeps moving through the series of her J.D. Robb books. Ive seen the list and it is extensive and this is not the only series she has done. I finished reading the most recent book in the Grid Down series. There are too many inconsistencies in the story, characters go missing with no true end, and the more you read the more the writer needs a good editor. Maybe he should get someone besides a fly by night Amazon editor. What I do like about the books if that story is good. It could be done better. At the end of each book he gives likes or directions to the things that the characters use in the book. We watched two movies on TCM yesterday, one for Ma and one for me. We only have watched them and read at the same time. Weve seen them before one was about Nazi spies during WWII, and one was something that Mary liked. Again, Im not sure what to post for music again. I think Im going to give up on even mentioning it and just put some stuff up after I finish this. And again, well see what happens. We went to Cindy and Sherrys yesterday for a visit. I had just had a shower and put on clean clothes. We got to their house just before they did and we loaded a couple of items that Cindy had given us. We didnt know that they had more waiting inside for us at the time. We sat at the table where we normally have our gab sessions and shared some donuts. Yep, I can sit is on the coffee clutch with the gals and hang with the best of them. While were sitting there Cindy had a bottle of milk and she tried to twist in it her hands to put the lid on. She lost control and drenched me with it. She got me good, clean down to my underwear. She also got the table, the chairs, the floor, etc. She made a good mess. We laughed our tails off and Cindy felt miserable. I told her its going to be a very long time before I let her forget that one! Next week there wont be very many Out On The Pikes as we have several appointments at the VA hospital. I have to go on Monday to pick up a C-PAP machine. The results of my sleep study is in and they wont tell me what it is over the phone. Obviously I have issues with breathing while Im sleeping. That might well account with all the morning headaches Im plagued with. Well see how that goes. The coffee machine is calling my name and telling me it wants me to put it to use again. Its a strong call and attraction and I think Im going make make use of it. I hope you all have a great day! May the Great Ones watch over you! namaste
