Out of Guinness to top up the big pot of Irish Stew for tonights supper and we cant have that so its off to the LCBO I go. I have a sidecar vegan version too if the Kelly/Hardys are in the vicinity. Im reminded of a massive pot of stew my mother made one St. Patricks day when I was in high school. She said: Thats enough stew to feed every IRA soldier hiding in every church basement in Ulster. She wasnt Irish and she had nothing to do with the troubles. She just watched the news with my dad, religiously, every single night. My mother was Catholic. My father is an atheist, raised Protestant. Her comment started a huge discussion between her and my dad about whether or not said young men were in fact soldiers or terrorists and how many one would, in fact, find in Ulster. Its funny what memories running out Guinness will trigger. And you, have you ever run out of Guinness?
