Outsiders Efforts to Damage Islam ISIS (Islamic State of Irak and Syria) or ISIL (Islamic State of Irak and Levantine) or in Arabic Daar Al-Islamiyah fii Irak wa Levantine is the latest effort by Outsiders to damage reputation of Islam. The reputation of Islam has been in the forefront of the world news for more than 20 years now, but what people have heard from the media is nothing but negative and a misinterpretation of what the true faith is all about. In my opinion it has been the best thing that has ever happened to the faith. Over the past 2 decades Islam has received a very bad rap in the media and in return people have become more curious to learn what is this, faith or ideology? Thousands people have embraced Islam. Good thing never come from convenience or comfort zone. You see, negative media is the best media mankind has ever known to make something well known and spread its name. When Moses peace be upon him (pbuh) came to the Pharaohs with the message, he laughed and said what, you bring me magic! So he gathers the entire community of people and with them are the best magicians. After Moses got done with his miracle the magicians themselves were the first to believe. Jesus peace be upon him also said he used magic to heal the blind when people came to see. And later Mohammad pbuh, they said he was a poet, a magician people came to see and hear and that was how Islam begin to spread. Good image destruction efforts also led Muslims to question their faith and do more research, become more educated in the faith and understand it at its true principles rather than mislead by nonsense and become radicalized. Those whom are categorized as Muslims, while killing, destroying and spreading violence, are NOT Muslims. Prophet Mohammad pbuh instructed Muslims, even in a war, NOT to kill woman, child, sick or old people or unarmed people or non combatant people. NOT to destroy environment i.e. cutting tree and demolish house, poisoned water. The basic Muslim greeting is Assalamu alaikum means peace be upon you, as I give you my oath to not harm you, hurt you or insult you in any way, regardless of your faith, nationality, status, gender, colour. If Muslim come to you with this greeting, you will be safe. Simply all humans must be treated in such manner. Politically we, Muslims, have fought and still fight. While we are in an era where armies dont meet face to face, we set out to equip, train and fund the ignorant, vulnerable, those living in despair, while those with too much anger blame others for their misery and misfortune, and resort to the cowardly method of settling differences by firstly creating such extremists group such as ISIS. We should know better and we should not be driven to such actions, or made to believe or think in such a way. We live in an era where misinformation can be spread easily and quickly. We must pause and learn to endure and be more patient.
