Over 300 trained youth in Garissa county to benefit The Do-nou technology on roads construction and maintenance from The republic of Japan: The republic of japan in conjunction with ILO is supporting over 300 youth from Garissa county to undergo sub sequent professionals training on road construction and maintenance in order uplift the technological road standards in the county. Do Nou technology which is used on road spot improvement and maintenance recently trained 293 youth from four sub-counties in Garissa is alobour based training which creates employment opportunities for youth by providing them with skills through training ,through the daily earnings ,The youth are able to save money for registration of companies in order to be part and benefit The 30 percent youth employment in the county. Speaking during the closing ceremony of Do nou technology in Nairobi Hotel ,Japan Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Tatsushi terada declared his support from the republic of japan in order to cement the noble initiative that CORE Community Road Empowerment Through Do no technology is undertaking in all counties,and promised to prioritize the youth from Garissa county who have undergone the basic Do nou technology in the four sub counties as the project is expected to cover other two sub counties. “Despite numerous challenges faced the trainees were very cooperative, enthusiastic and responsible. They expressed their strong interest in forming companies so as to uplift their standard. They therefore contributed to the success of the project training and as a people from japan,we are very much ready to work with county Goverment in order to empower the youth” Mr. Tatshudi said. A cording to Chief Executiver officer of CORE’ Mr. Kiyoshi kita, In the month of July project planning was carried out in garissa ,Project planning activities included the recruitment of the youth groups, group mobilization, selection of the training sites, identifying of quarries to supply gravel, purchase of training materials, tools and equipment. The youth recruitment was done by the respective subcounty administrators under the guidance of of the county Goverment. Theclosing forum which was attended by The deputy Governor , Mr. Abdullahin hussein,county incounty executive committes, ILO ,CORE, other NGOs , COTU, FKE, KeRRA off secreatryicials. Mr. Abdullahi said that, the project concept was explained to the satkeholders who were present and all were welcoming the project. The county government showed their willingness to support the MSEs in getting them jobs. And he promised all those recruits,The county Goverment will do ways and means to help and absorb the trained youth once they equip themselves with knowledge. Meanwhile ,30 trainees are undergoing Performance based routine maintenance which is conducted by the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), Kisii Training Centre (KTC).this is expect to start in October for 6 weeks. After this training the leaders will use their certificates to rehgister the MSe with the NCA.
