Over Halfway There Matthew 14:24 says, “But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary”. The disciples were at least half way to their promise when the stall occurred. They were halfway to their promise when it looked as though they were going to die. They were halfway to their promise when failure seemed inevitable. There was one thing missing in their ship. They had forgotten the promise of Jesus. In verse 22 He had “constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side”. They were halfway to their promise when suddenly the Lord appeared in a miraculous way. He made His way to them through the storm. If times are hard for you and you feel discouraged or weary, please ask yourself if you really believe the promises of God? John 6:19 says, “So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid”. KJV Five and twenty or thirty furlongs is between three and four miles. The sea of Tiberias, on which they now were, was, according to Josephus, War, book 3, chapter 25, forty furlongs, or five miles in breadth; and one hundred and forty furlongs, or eighteen miles, in length. Pliny, lib. 5 chapter 15, makes it about six miles broad, and sixteen long. The disciples were over half way to their destination. They didn’t have as far to go as they had already gone. Perhaps the same is true for you. You are over half way there. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”. That is a promise!
