Over seventy years ago, Armen Ninno, then in his twentys, would drive from Roseto, Pa. with his band to perform in Martins Creek. On the dance floor hed always see his friend Albert Difilippantonio and some of his brother, six of whom served at the same time during WWll. During the war, Armen went off to Algiers, seeing Ramels tanks in the sand clouded distance, while Albert fought in New Guinea jungles, where he was wounded. About fifty years ago his Purple Heart was misplaced, never to be seen again, that is until Albert Jr. contacted Congressman Charles Dent with Albert Srs information....the replacement arrived just days ago in time to be presented to him on this Memorial Day weekend by his son. Albert Sr. 98, Armen, 96 both now live at Gracedale nursing home where they spend some time playing duets, Armen on the trumpet, Albert on his harmonica .....thank you gentleman for your service.
