Over the Fourth of July weekend, I was able to finally see the complete first season of True Detective. Good googly moogly what a unique well directed and written show. Woody Harrelson did some fine tune acting also but it was all about Matthew Mcconaughey for me on the show. He keeps showing us the true talent that he is and that every performance that he does (even if you agree/like or disagree/dislike the movies that hes in) is one that will not be forgotten and can also be guidelines to up and coming talent to learn from. Even the smallest and simplest thing as smoking a cigarette adds a layer of substance to his character. When you see him take a drag off of that cigarette you do not know if its him enjoying the drag, or if hes adding emphasis to whatever it is he is saying or each drag makes him reminisce on things. The man could probably do dialogue on paint drying and us the viewers would be stuck on each one of his words in that dialogue.
