Over the last 24 hours or so, Ive been having a spirited discussion (argument? debate?) with a friend of mine about how fed up he is with people saying that some of these successful mega-stars in the country music genre, suck. His point is that that cant possibly suck, or they would not be given the opportunity to play sold out arenas. I personally dont disagree with the fact that these pop stars truly excel at being pop stars, and truth be told, theyre probably not interested in being Guy Clark caliber artists anyway. My questions to yall (purely for scientific research purposes, of course), are as follows: Can it be authoritatively stated that if a music artist is hugely successful, that they therefore cannot suck? Or is there a definitive, black and white talent line, that defines sucking, regardless of hoards of screaming fans and millions in fan-spent revenue? And go.....
