Over the past couple of days, I have seen a commercial featuring a bunch of wanna be weekend warriors having paint ball wars in the forest. It features one guy, who seems to think he is Rambo Incarnate and is the organizer, taking out all his opponents. It reminded me of an incident that occurred about 20 yrs ago when I was working in the mortgage industry. A guy came into our offices in Costa Mesa (Orange County), CA, carrying a bunch of fliers. Our receptionist was at lunch so I went up to see what he wanted. He handed me one of his fliers and very excitedly started to tell me about this new fun, enterprise he was starting. I glanced down at the flier and saw that it was advertising paint ball war games. I handed it back to him and said, Sorry, buddy, youre talking to the wrong guy here, but you can talk to others in the office. He proceeded to try to convince me that these were great fun. I looked at him and said, Buddy, Ive been in a real war. I dont do play wars any more than I want to be in another real war! Having been successful at deflating his ego, he left the office - tail between his legs.
