Over the past few days we have received many enquiries asking whether the marathon will go ahead despite the coup d’etat that took place in Thailand last week. We have replied to all these enquiries individually while assessing the situation. We would like to reassure all participants and their families that the event will go ahead as planned. Phuket has not been affected by the coup and tourists and locals are going about their holidays and life as usual. There is no military presence in Phuket and other than the current curfew there are no restrictions. The Phuket International Airport is open as normal and arriving and departing passengers are allowed to travel to and from the airport during the curfew hours. The military council has received royal endorsement by his majesty the king to govern the country through this transitional period. The military council is currently reviewing a lifting of the curfew and we anticipate it to be lifted before the event. Should the curfew not be lifted in time we will adjust the starting times accordingly. We will put any updates on the situation on our facebook page. For further enquiries in regards to the situation please contact our athlete services team at info1@phuketmarathon Roman Floesser Race Director
