Over the past few days, weeks? I have been working on my Post Apocyliptic disUtopia story (coming along quite well, I hope first chapter to hit the web this weekend...) And recently I have been working on a post about Economics... And I formed a question to myself... how can I be both Socialist AND libertarian... well one is economic mostly, and the other is mostly social and political. I find that they are not antagonistic philosophies, instead they are VERY complimentary. They curb each others excesses quite well. Socialists think an economy is healthier when more people have more links to it, and when more of the benifit of the economy gets spread further. Like the middle 40% (which today is something like 30-40k a year to 150k a year) should reap about 40-55% of the economic growth... i mean whats radical about that thought, its pretty close to the economic situation of the 40s-50s. Gvmt spending with IN our borders was high (lincoln tunnel, GWB, Hoover Dam, etc, and those in the middle were reaping a return on investment from their parents, their heroism in WWII.... How about we limit the Top 1% of earners to take home a maximum of 1.5% of the GDP.... 3%? 5%?...... im flexible on the #, but isnt it a better idea, from a whole economy PoV to limit how fast, how far the top owners can expand? Isnt it prudent to enact laws that make sure that the middle (bottom and lower) classes share in the prosperity of our country? Wouldnt it be nice if the bottom 25% of earners had at least enjoyed 15% of our national increase of wealth? Instead of splitting a whopping 2% between 1out of 4 americans..... A good economy keeps the bottom 25% of workers (drones) recieving about 15% of the increase in gdp...... and specifically ahead of inflation and price wars (IE, during the oil embargo of the 70s, the Fed should have just issued gas credits for all citizens........ oil prices have doubled? You paid 100 bucks for gas before the huge uptick? Here is a 100 buck cash card for gas @ these suppliers......
