Over the past few weeks I have had the honor to provide pastoral counseling to several of you. While I cannot get into the details of the problems addressed, most had a common thread: a feeling of being small and ineffectual in the face of rather daunting circumstances. I think we have all have been in these individuals place at one time or another. So what do we do when we feel we are no match for the problems we face? Sorry to say there is no easy answer to be had. If there was a quick fix then there really would be no need to feel overwhelmed and ill equipped. But if we are to face up to difficulties and struggles we must get over these feelings of inadequacy. And to do that we must realize that we are in control. Even if we cannot control the problem, we can control ourselves. We are the masters of our own ship. Remember a captain does not control the water. He simply navigates it. Like a captains inability to control the water, we cant control life. We can simply navigate life. The trick is to learn how to navigate our ships to safe harbors and new worlds even when the weather of life is treacherous. So take courage and pride in the fact that you are the captain of your own ship. Learn to ride the waves of life. Remember that there are ports of safety, like Global Underground Initiative, that you can dock your ship in until you shore things up. But we have faith in you and know that with a little work youll be back on the high seas. In PLUR(R), Rev Rob
