Over the past several years many within our community have noticed where certain members of the Hoke County Board of Commissioner have turned the commission into their personal fiefdom. Case in point is when the people of North Carolina has elected for the first time since 1870s a Republican Government. Trickel down to the make up of the State and local board of elections where past policies were review for the betterment of the communities. Hoke County Bde of Elections composed of two outstanding citizens of Hoke Countys Republican community and one remaining Democrat reviewed our election policies and corresponding NC Statutes. They the Republican for the betterment of the community addressed the issue of One Stop Voting and its related voting location. Jumping ahead; From Monday February 17 to Feburary 26, 2014 Hoke County Board of Commissioners over stepped their legal authority when they summon members of the Hoke County Board of Elections to appear before them and explain their actions as it relates to the County Library and One Stop Voting. NOTE: In 1880 under a Democrat Control Government a state statute was enacted which dictated the seperation of powers between the State Board of Elections and the County Commissioners of the State of North Carolina. The statute plainly states (Jetrhro BoDean could figure it out) the role of each which where the Board of Commissioners shall not interfere with the actions of the Board of Elections in the carrying out of their duties. KING LEACH and those of the board knowingly violated the word of the law to gain political and personal gain. The statute also states that the Board of Election shall use any government support structure without the approval of any controlling body of the infrastructure. The Democratic Board of Election representative and the elected Board of Commissioners are using any means of delaying tactic. They are blowing smoke as the following will identify: The Library has been identified by a Commissioner as being unsafe for voters. You might get mugged while trying to vote is my interpetation. How about the young and old who visit the library to check out books are they being mugged? Not made to hold a function like voting. Prior to the 1970s the County Tax Office took over the meeting room of the library where the citizens of Hoke had to travel to pay their property taxes. Lets me see, back then there was as it is still today around 25000 parcels of taxable land in Hoke County. I do not believe 25000 people will vote at the Library when it comes a One Stop Voting location moved from the present over crowded County Annex where yes, you can and it has happen in the past where someone was robb and mugged. Oh yes, parking for the Handicap, there is three space right in front of the library whereas at the Annex it is on the side and guess what, it is alway full as the people who work in the Annex use the spaces. By the way, County Commissioners have assigned parking places near the Annex door. Can you beat that. Curbside voting at the Library would be and has been a smooth operation. At the ANNEX not so as the demand of the normal operation of the ANNEX demands parking and confusion to who may need curb side voting is lost in the ant like travels of those from the near by court house and detention cells to the others who received their drivers lic from Sears.
