Over the summer, Emmet County and the Headlands held the Lights Out Across the Straits and Lights Out Across the Bay challenges, to see which communities could achieve greatest darkness by encouraging residents and visitors to turn off their lights. It was a really fun, awareness-raising event. Recently, Mary Stewart Adams was able to give the awards to the winning communities for 2014: Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City! Accepting for Mackinaw was Dawn Edwards with the Chamber and accepting for Harbor Springs was Al Dika, Mayor. Congratulations and thanks to all who took part!
