Over the weekend, Kenyans woke up to sad news that popular actress, Nancy Nyambura, popularly known as, Jastorina, had passed away after a long battle with meningitis. The talented comedian play ed as a hilarious househelp on the popular programme dubbed, Jastorina, aired on Citizen TV. The show was highly -rated and it brought alot of money to SK Macharia’s media house as many advertisers scrambled to have their adverts slotted during its time on air. However, the management at Citizen TV ended up paying Jastorina poorly and treated her like garbage. According to sources, before her death, she was living in poverty and lacked basic necessities. Apparently , she was being housed by her uncle in Nairobi’s Dandora Estate and when her situation got worse, she was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital. It took another 24 hrs before she was admitted at the hospital because she could raise the required medical fee. Despite her family making countless pleas to Citizen TV’s management for help, they avoided them like plague. Sadly , she lost her life on Saturday after her situation got worse. At the time of her death, she had scooped an Award for the Best Actress 2014 at the just concluded Kalasha Awards. May her soul rest in peace and shame on Citizen TV’s management for treating one of their own like an outcast. Jastorina is survived by two sons.
