Over the years, theres been people that say its just a game and dont understand why Id stop what I was doing on a warm summer day to come in a watch a Riders away game on TV or why we plan summer holidays so we dont miss a Riders home game, so let me explain it to you: -- Its about being able to spend what I consider quality time with my husband and son watching something we enjoy. -- Its watching the joy and excitement on my sons face when he sees his team doing well. -- Its about my son have no qualms about hugging me in public when a touchdown is scored in the biggest game of the year. -- Its seeing the tears in the eyes of the 50-something-year-old guy, who has sat in front of me for the past 6 years, after the Riders score to get further ahead of the opposition in the big game. -- Its sitting in the stands, well after the game is over, not wanting to leave and thinking did that just happen? -- Its sitting in the stands after the game and having the guy (dubbed the amateur referee) who has sat behind me for 6 seasons driving me nuts, come over, pat me on the back and say, thanks for putting up with us. -- Its the couple who sit next to us at every game who thought ahead and brought shooters to celebrate after the game. Said couple also had butter brickle for after every TD. Shhhhh....dont tell security!! LOL -- Its about that player, who we are lucky enough to call a friend, named Eddie Russ Jr, yell up to Dave, Kyle and I before the warm-up. And then when the warm-up is done, hes walking into the locker room, catches my eye, and shoots me a look that says weve got this. -- Its that sense of pride I get when I watch that team storm onto the field. -- Its about singing Green Is The Color with about 40,000 of my closest friends. -- Its that one gal, who Im only Facebook friends with, come over and give me a quick hug after the game after I yelled out her name before she had to catch her ride. -- Again, its that guy named Eddie and another player, who after winning the Grey Cup, stopped to spend a few minutes with Dave, Kyle and I outside the stadium. Those moments were priceless and meant the world to us. Thanks Mike and Eddie. -- Its about seeing the look on my sons face as we walk down Albert Street with a few hundred other people that are yelling, screaming, cheering. -- Its thinking that a November evening was likely the third-best day in my life. -- Its about sitting here and wondering how many days until training camp? -- Its about discussing things like this with my football sisters (you know who you are) and they know exactly what Im talking about and that its not silly. I could go on and on giving more reasons about why that its more than just a game but I gotta get to my laundry, yes, about three loads of greens....
