Over two thousand years ago, Our Lord Jesus Christ said, ‘the harvest is rich but the labourers are few’. To date, this statement remains relevant to his flock across the globe. Indeed, many people have heard his word that has traversed the greatest of seas, beyond dangerous rivers, densest jungles and has leapt over the highest mountains into hundreds of millions of homes. This has been made possible by the gift of many young men and women who have voluntarily responded to his ‘call’. A call to serve him, a call to serve his people, a call to spread the Gospel. The Catholic Diocese of Kitale celebrated such a moment during the priestly ordination of 5 new priests on the 1st of March 2014 at St. Joseph’s Parish. In his Homily, the Bishop asked the new clergy to emulate Jesus Christ, to be humble and follow his commandments. He asked them to be simple as Pope Francis is. Clad in golden priestly vestments, the newly consecrated clergy blended the occasion making it even more glamorous. Rev. Fr. Justus Oyugi from Kolongolo Parish was sent to Sirende Parish, Rev. Fr. Fred Namisi from Suwerwa Parish was sent to Christ the King Parish, Rev. Fr. Alexander Kones from Sirende Parish was sent to Kaibichbich Parish, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Mulongo from Kiminini Parish was sent to Kolongolo Parish and Rev. Fr. Joseph Odongo from Kibomet Parish was sent to Kiminini Parish.
