Over two years ago Prof. Heike Behlmer discussed with me her academic institution application for a new project to publish a critical edition of the Sahidic Old Testament. At the time she asked me on behalf of the Society to write a letter of support of such project because of our combined community and academic ties. Prof. Behlmer informed a few hours ago that the project funding has been approved and Profs. Behlmer and Frank Feder will be leading the project, which will start in January 2015 and last till 2036. This is represent part of a project that the Society has envisioned since 1978 to compile the Coptic Bible. Congratulations to Goettingen University for spearheading the project and we wish them the best. The Society will offer any assistance requested.
