Owner negligent in not socializing this 1 year old with other dogs, NO REASON HACHI SHOULD DIE FOR OWNERS DEFICIENCY **** EXPERIENCED OWNER WITH PATIENCE, KNOW-HOW, AND LOVE CAN REMEDY THIS BEHAVIOR *** DOG IS FRIENDLY BUT SHY *** NEW HOPE RESCUE ONLY ***** NO REASON HACHI SHOULD DIE BECAUSE OWNER WAS LAX, EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT IN NOT SOCIALIZING HIM WITH OTHER DOGS. Rather unique dog, lets not allow the NYC ACC to start killing Shiba Inus now. Only 32 lbs Hachi obviously likes people, is shy but friendly and did well during the evaluation. However, he avoids other dogs and growls if they get too close. Hopefully people who know Shiba Inu rescues will clue them in. We need an experienced owner, without children, someone who can patiently work with him on socialization. Neutering might help? He will need to be the only dog for now and it will take patience, but Hachi is only 1, can learn anything.
