••••••••P L E A S E R E A D•••••••I M P O R T A N T U P D A T E We have some good news and we have some bad news!!! Ok lets start with the bad news. We had asked the City Council to give S.T.O.P. a two year extension to give us more time to fund raise. It has been difficult to wade through the grant circle to get round and round with them and then be turned down. We needed more time to prove we can get the grants we and the financing we need to keep the pool alive. So tonight, there was a motion on the table from the previous meeting last month. 1. Allow S.T.O.P. two more years to fund raise and get the money we needed for the project. 2. Then tonight Lee Coumbs recommended, based on a report Emil Pierson made that the time needed might be more like 4 years. So he made a motion to give us 4 years to fund raise and get the project completed. So there were two motions to be voted on. Then we made a plea in a letter to the Council to give us until May 2015 (6 months) to show that we can raise money for this project and then at that time re-negotiate with the City to get an extension. To clear up the motions that needed to be voted upon. The votes on Number 1 was as follows: YEAH Lee Coumbs Ron Greenwood NEY Gabe Anzelini John Elmore Patrick Gallagher Bart Ricks Voted down 4 - 2 The votes on Number 2 was as follows: YEAH Lee Coumbs Ron Greenwood NEY Gabe Anzelini John Elmore Patrick Gallagher Bart Ricks Voted down 4 - 2 The they agreed to vote on our plea to allow us until May 2015 The votes were as follows: YEAH Gabe Anzelini Lee Coumbs Ron Greenwood Patrick Gallagher Bart Ricks NEY John Elmore The good news is we have until May 2015 to come up with enough money to show a sizable contribution to our goal and we will certainly be working hard to achieve that goal!!!! We hope we can convince Mr. Elmore that we can make this pool happen. We were surprised that he was so against this pool since he was such a vital instrument in the recent successful campaign to renovate the Thorbeckes pool. We are sure there is room for an outdoor pool also in our city. We sincerely would like to thank Gabe Anzelini, Lee Coumbs, Ron Greenwood, Patrick Gallagher and Bart Ricks for their generous votes to allow us a little more time to make this Veterans Memorial Pool yet again a vital fun place for our kids.
