P. O. Box Lewiston, Ca. 96052 FRESH START FOOD PANTRY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2014 Dear Henry, , Very sorry for not getting the report out for November but better late than never here is the report for the last two months. November 10th..............55 bags of food November 17th..............57 bags of food November 24th..............61 bags of food December 8th..............41 bags of food December 15th..............52 bags of food December 22nd.............72 bags of food and 66 hams Christmas food package December 29th.............53 bags of food In November we focused on fund raising for the Christmas ham giveaway. There were collection jars at the Moose Lodge, the Lewiston Hotel and the mini marts in Lewiston. Last year we raised approximately $1,000 to help with the expenses. This year, as we were into the fund raising job some one stepped forward and donated $1,000 toward the Christmas giveaway. That was GREAT! The hams alone were over $800. We try to have a full meal for Christmas as most groups give for Thanksgiving and few, if any for Christmas. We also focused in November on grant writing for a small amount for the Trinity Food Outreach which is composed of the six food pantries and soup kitchens in Trinity County. We needed over one thousand dollars for the I.R.S. and California for filing fees, etc to pay for the 501c tax exemption for that group. Once we obtain our tax exemption the food pantries and soup kitchens will be able to receive very low priced food from organizations like Feed America and Bountiful Harvest. Unfortunately the grant was denied but we have not given up. In December we held the first planning meeting for the winter disk golf fund raiser. This will be our third year. We raise around $500 from that event which covers about one half months purchases of food for distribution. Also in December we received a donation of an inboard speed boat in good running condition. The plan is to sell or raffle the boat and hopefully raise sufficient funds to continue with our work on the tax exempt status for Trinity Food Outreach. Good things just keep happening. From all of us at the Fresh Start Food Pantry of Lewiston we wish you and yours a very Happy New Year in 2015. Again, thank you for your continuing support.
