P R E S S R E L E A S E Date: August 21, 2014 Control Number: 20140821- 266 PNP looking for gun-toting man Butuan City –Authorities are now looking for the man who gun pointed Mr. Rodolfo Limit Mantilla, 39 years old, married a resident of P-1, Brgy. Ong Yiu, Butuan City in the vicinity of Villanueva St., corner Montilla Boulevard, Butuan City 3 AM today August 21, 2014 using a yet to be known caliber of firearm. Mr. Mantilla rushed to Police Officer 2 Oscar Lugo Curada of Butuan City Police Station 1, stationed at the Police Box of corner Montilla Blvd and Nat’l Highway (Jollibee Fast Food) who at that time patrolling on foot in his area of responsibilities. PO2 Curada immediately responded and was about to approach the unidentified suspect when the latter evaded by boarding a passing passenger motorcycle. PO2 Curada together with Mr Mantilla boarded their respective motorcycles and chased the fleeing suspect passing T Calo St. heading west direction. PO2 Curada then called the nearby station thru handheld radio for back-up. While in the vicinity of Brgy. Limaha, Butuan City, the unidentified suspect jumped out from the motorcycle and ran into the building of Dong Kook Fiesta Trading. PO2 Curada shouted at the fleeing man to stop but was fired upon prompted the police officer to return fire. The suspect then forcibly entered the Dong Kook building thru the main door. PO2 Curada tried to enter the building but it was already padlocked from the inside. Elements from Butuan City Police Station 1 led by Police Inspector Navarro, a SWAT Team from Butuan City Public Safety Company and personnel of Butuan City Police Station 2 who responded the call for back up cordoned the area while waiting for the owner identified as Mona Yamane Magarang who rented the building. Around 4:30 AM, owner Mona Yamane Magarang arrived together with Kagawad Jampac of Brgy Limaha and media personalities. A search with the whole building was then conducted by BCPSC SWAT Team but the suspect could no longer be found. Police found traces of blood from the front door heading the second floor of the building. Blood stains were also found at the second floor window whom authorities believe where the suspect climbed up the roof and jumped into the vacant lot of the back portion. Efforts are continuously exerted to locate the unidentified suspect thru a follow-up and hot-pursuit operation for possible arrest and identification of the suspect and file appropriate charges against him while Butuan City Police Office City Director PSSUPT NERIO T BERMUDO is thankful that PO2 Curada is unharmed of the incident and encouraged his men to continue performing each duty as peace keepers of Butuan City.
