P0609 - Introduction to Unified Command for All Hazard Incidents The United States Fire Administration’s National Fire Academy (NFA) is recruiting students and instructor candidates to attend a pilot class for its two-day course Introduction to Unified Command for All Hazard Incidents (P0609). The 2-day pilot will be held September 14-15, 2013 at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) Campus in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Course Description: This course is designed for those officers who would likely function in a Command or General Staff position during a multi-agency, all-hazard operation. Students will be exposed to lectures and activities designed to promote a better understanding of multi-agency needs and a Unified Command structure. This course is designed to provide an understanding of the requirements of a Unified Command organization and the skills necessary to operate effectively at complex all-hazard incidents. Selection Criteria: Officers who have command responsibilities. Officers who are upwardly mobile and act in the position of a Command Officer. Individuals, regardless of title, who would function in a command or general staff position during a Unified Command operation. Those officers who are initially responsible for setting up the Incident Command organization Delivery Type: This is a 2-day class APPLICATION INFORMATION Applications must be received by close of business August 1, 2013. Course materials are provided at no cost to participants. Lodging is provided at no cost to representatives of career or volunteer departments and State/local governments. Meal costs and transportation expenses are the responsibility of the individual participants or the sponsoring agency. There is no Student Stipend Reimbursement for this pilot offering. Students staying on campus will be required to purchase a campus meal plan which will consist of 3 meals (B/L/D) on Saturday and 2 meals (B/L) on Sunday and costs approximately $39.00.
