PAINT TECHNICIAN WANTED JOB SUMMARY: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Prepare and paint as instructed, any of the wide variety of products manufactured at WSI Holdings, LLC. Ability to apply common sense understanding of the machines in order to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or blueprint form. Duties require the painter to perform product inspections and perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of the paint systems. Employee must acquire an understanding of the paint systems operations. It is essential this employee is able to perform in a self directed environment to support production schedules, with little to no supervision. Must have the ability to assist with developing, implementing, or managing procedures and/or programs to streamline and enhance the current day-to-day processes. Ability to assist with maintenance of equipment, including machines and any other equipment that may be used in the machine shop or warehouse as directed. It is imperative to have the ability to work independently, follow oral or written directions and instructions as well as be flexible should conflict arise. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledgeable, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Comply with fire safety regulations and precautions in relation to paints, solvents, proper disposal and storage procedures as well as the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required for these assigned job tasks. • Must be able to apply coatings; such as paint or finish coats to work piece surfaces, using spay guns and/or brushes. • Examine finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications and retouch any defective areas. • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes and rags. • Read job orders and inspect work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required. • Clean surfaces of work pieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth. • Rinse, drain, or wipe coated work pieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on work pieces. • Determining paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections. • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary. • Select appropriate coatings, paints, or sprays, or prepare them by mixing substances according to formulas, using automated paint mixing equipment. • Set up and operate machines to paint or coat products with such materials as silver and copper solution, rubber, paint or rustproofing materials. • Turn dials, hand wheels, valves, or switches to regulate air pressure and circulation, and the flow or spray of coatings or paints. • Start and stop operation of machines, using levers or buttons. • Start pumps to mix solutions and fill tanks. • Record operational data on specified forms. • Operate auxiliary machines or equipment used in coating or painting processes. • Perform test runs to ensure that equipment is set up properly. • Clean machines, related equipment, and work areas, using water, solvents and other cleaning aids. • Attach hoses or nozzles to machines, using wrenches and pliers, and make adjustments to obtain the proper dispersion of spray. • Remove materials, parts, or work pieces from painting or coating machines, using hand tools. • Transfer completed items or products from machines to drying or storage areas, using handcarts, hand trucks, or cranes. • Attach and align machine parts such as rollers, guides, brushes, and blades, using hand tools. • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency. • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the companys policies and applicable laws. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school. • Required to have an excellent work ethic. • Preferred experience but moderate-term on the job training is required. • Routers and work orders in a machine shop. • Lean Manufacturing. • Processes in a machine shop. • Able to perform basic math calculations. • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills. • Be able to operate basic hand tools. • Complete and maintain training requirements.
