PAL resumes flights to Tacloban IN order to help passengers who were affected by the flight cancellations and to aid in the airlifting of relief goods for residents who have been displaced by Monster Storm Yolanda, the country’s flag carrier Philippine Airlines yesterday resumed commercial flights services to Tacloban City in Leyte. Government is however allowing limited turbo prop flights to give way to humanitarian missions ferrying relief supplies and equipment. PAL said it is responding to that call via special flight 2P5971 carrying relief supplies. Current flight limitations due to the damage brought about by the said typhoon to the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport which has been so extensive, prompted flight operations to be limited. Also in view of this, PAL will be operating its Manila-Tacloban service via Cebu City while passengers flying between Manila and Tacloban will have to go through the Mactan/Cebu International Airport. Meanwhile, the smaller Bombardier Dash 8 turboprop aircraft will be utilized to service the Tacloban-Cebu segment while the restriction is in effect. PAL has designated its budget carrier subsidiary PAL Express (PALex)to service the Cebu-Tacloban route with flights. Meanwhile, PALex is reinstating the following flights resulting from the reopening of Kalibo and Busuanga airports: 2P565/566, 2P567/568, 2P969/970 and 2P081/082 which are flight services between Manila and Kalibo. PALex flights 2P031/032 and 2P033/034, which services the Manila-Busuanga route have also been reinstated. Philippine Airlines and PALex are operating commercial flights to Tacloban via Cebu starting yesterday, to help passengers whose flights were cancelled as a result of the super typhoon.
