PANGASINAN NATIVES ARE NOT GULLIBLE (“Pangasinenses Are Very Brilliant People”) 2016 is fast approaching. Many political aspirants are starting to entice the people including the media sector to join their groups, cause, advocacies, movements or whatever activity that may propel their names to the limelight and be the center of talks, chats or topics of the common masses of people be it in Pangasinan or elsewhere in the country. However, many are posing to be advocates of this and that. A certain politician with his political camp is projecting himself as an environmentalist or pro-environment by posing to be the protector of trees in the widening of roadlines north of Manila. While it is good to hear and note that this politician, a migrant leader at that in Pangasinan and is very passionate in his desire to be the governor of Pangasinan 2016 with his early announcement of his availability and desire to be one which he purposely coincided with the SOPA of Outstandingly Performing Pangasinan Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., is for the preservation and replacement of existing planted trees along these highways, although he is at the same time, a strong advocate for the putting up and operation of nuclear power plant(s) for cheaper cost of electricity. As I have written in my previous column that nuclear-powered-plant may provide cheaper electricity cost, it may also make the lives of many brilliant Pangasinenses cheap. The nuclear power plant is a threat to every living organism, like grasses, herbs, shrubs, trees, birds, fishes, animals, even very precious human lives, as well as the environment or to the whole ecosystem, not to mention the whole ecological balance in the vicinity and immediate surrounding provinces, cities of the said nuclear power plant in case of nuclear radiation leak from the plant due to human error, plant malfunction or calamities such as earthquake/tsunami. You CANNOT be an ENVIRONMENTALIST and a STRONG ADVOCATE OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANT at the same time because these are two OPPOSING school of thoughts or stance. These MIGRANT-POLITICAL LEADER-BUSINESSMAN is aspiring to be the GOVERNOR of our dearly beloved Province of PANGASINAN and is PRETENDING to be an ENVIRONMENTALIST to GAIN MEDIA MILEAGE and ATTENTION from the people while he continues to be a STRONG ADVOCATE of the NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. As the Platters’ Song goes like this: HE IS A GREAT PRETENDER!!! This newspaper columnist has been an environmental watcher since his teenage days, as a former member and officer of the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, Inc. since 1978 to 1983. Melvin Tiangson Samson was a multi-medalled former Outstanding Science Quizzer in Pangasinan and Region 1 (Ilocos Region, the present CAR was part of R-1) from 1980-1983 and was a former member of the board of the PSYSC in Pangasinan Division and in Region 1. Have attended series of school, division, regional and national science camps, symposia, seminar-workshops on environmental watching, non-conventional sources of energy, soil, forestry, water, farming, industrialization, pollution, radiation, invention, innovation, brainstorming and creative thinking, leadership and communication with technical writing, as well as many other topics/subjects in science. You cannot just bluff or fool around with sweet convincing talk this well-informed and exposed columnist on the above-said subject. You tell your environmentalist standpoint and your pro-nuclear advocacy to the marines, not to the media-sector much less to this columnist. NATIVE PANGASINENSES are so brilliant. Each and every Presidential Administration in this country, has cabinet members/secretaries, undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, advisers, consultants or any other high positions in the corridors of power. We NATIVE PANGASINENSES are very gifted with BRILLIANCE, WISDOM and DISCERNMENT. We know and we can detect if a person is trying to fool or just giving us a run-around on certain subjects which we are very sure of. We, NATIVE PANGASINENSES should NOT allow bluffers, pretenders, corrupt leaders/politicians, tyrants, who may have oppressed us in one way or another in the past, to prevail again in the near or distant future. We should tell them straight to their faces or in the election ballots come 2016, that they are not welcome in Pangasinan to rule over us and to take advantage of us and our enormous natural resources.
