PAPAKURA NETBALL CENTRE REGIONAL PREMIER LEAGUE MEDIA RELEASE - 11TH JUNE 2013 The first games of the Plate Round commenced on Friday 11th June, all teams itching to take the court and show their wares! Division 1 Results: Timbertown Shelly Park played newcomers Marlins Platinum at Rosehill College, narrowly losing 53 (Timbertown) - 57(Marlins). Marlins Team Manager Tracy Stowers citing the outstanding performances of Jennifer Larnder (WD) and Jessica Hough (GK) as key to the successful outcome for Marlins, despite their poor start. Timbertown led in all 3 quarters of the game, with Marlins coming from behind to take the lead and retain it in the final quarter. Papatoetoe Rangers 1 played Howick United at Netball Manurewa, and narrowly lost 48 (Rangers) - 49 (Howick). Papatoetoe Rangers 1 leading the first half of the game, but Howick United dominated the 3rd quarter and led by 7 goals going into the last quarter. Papatoetoe Rangers 1 came back strongly, but not able to regain the lead. Aztec 1 and Aztec 2 will play their postponed RPL Division 1 game on Tuesday, 11th June 8.00pm at Netball Manurewa. Division 2 Results: Mellons Bay 1 took on Bombay Premiers at Somerville Intermediate, losing 41 (Mellons) - 55 (Bombay). Mellons Bay Coach Dave Booth reported a very messy start by both teams in the first quarter - expected of the first game for the round. Bombay settled faster and Mellons Bay played catch up for the rest of the game. Newcomers to the RPL, Revelation Titans took on Conifer Grove Platinum at Netball Manurewa, winning 48 (Revelation) - 46 (CG Platinum). Revelation Coach Dave Rewi reported the team was very nervous, but excited to start their RPL campaign. They were led well by captain Maata Mafi, who played an outstanding game along with Jennifer Tuhi (GS). Revelation is looking forward to their next RPL game. Manurewa Gold faced debutants Hunua Platinum at Rosehill College, losing 35 (Hunua) - 65 (Manurewa). Manurewa Gold led the through the entire game after a very good first quarter in which they lead 14 - 7, second quarter 33 - 15 and third quarter 49 - 26.
