PARENTS of Brentwood, Antioch, Discovery Bay with kids with cell phones, tablets, computers-- PLEASE attend this meeting (Thursday April 3, 6:30, Edna Hill School) in regards to Social Media. Your child knows more than you do about this stuff. A couple of months ago, I attended this presentation by Brentwood PD and it was eye opening. It isnt saying that Social Media is BAD, which isnt all the time BUT as Parents it is our responsibility to KNOW IT. One of the best things I heard was If you were to allow your child to shoot a gun, you would teach them how to use it, you would probably own a gun or two, you would teach them how to avoid accidents..... WHY are we not doing this with the kids in regards to Cell Phones? What these kids do not realize- is that these cell phones with social media is a weapon-- TEACH them how to use it correctly. Because we cant avoid this- Social Media is a New Language that needs to be learned by all. It isnt going anywhere. PLEASE ATTEND this meeting and hopefully it CAN avoid another situation of what took place in our middle schools.
