PART 3- My Encounters with Elvis As Elvis rose in stardom, I saw him less at the theater yet one last time that I did, he still asked me to come to his home, which was now Graceland. I sooo wanted to see the inside of that mansion. I asked my Mother and I was 16 by then and felt I was grown enough to go. Of course she refused, saying he was too wild and there would be drinking going on, etc.,etc. Pure conjecture on her part but I knew she was making excuses for me not to go. LOL I hated telling him no again but he was very kind about it and told me he understood my Mother. That would be the last time I would see Elvis for many, many years. He went into the service, we were all sad but anxious for him to return to Mphs and continue making movies and recording. I had changed jobs, modeling for a couple of years then became a hairstylist. During my career, I had many funny and crazy girlfriends, one in particular that I invited to go with me to see Elvis in concert at the International Hilton Hotel. She went wild over that idea and we planned our trip. What a trip it was!! First time in Vegas and I felt like a country bumpkin let loose. I loved the excitement of the city, the shows, the glamour and the fun she and I had. We were strolling through the Hilton one night when coming towards us was Red West, who immediately stopped us and gave me a hug. Red was always very protective towards me and I was grateful. He asked me if we would like to come up to Elviss suite after the show, for a party. I didnt get any words out fast enough, my girlfriend said Are you kidding? I laughed at her and told Red yes, we would come. We went to see Elviss show, which was awesome of course. The man was born to sing and he gave his all to each and every song. My friend was going crazy and couldnt wait for the show to end! Lol We went up after awhile, giving Elvis and the guys time to get to his suite and unwind a bit before we went in. Red answered the door and escorted us in. Elvis was dressed in one of his karate uniforms, executing some karate moves for people that surrounded him in a circle, a lot more girls than guys. Red took my friend and I off to a small alcove of the large room and we just sat there and waited and watched. After about half and hour, Red brought Elvis over to introduce us. I could tell by Elviss demeanor that he was very up and fidgety, I didnt try to figure out what it was, I was just glad to see him again after so many years. He kissed our hands, my friend nearly fainted, and I told him it was good to meet him. I never brought it up that I was the young girl he had wanted to date many years ago. I knew he wouldnt remember. He was very kind, very nervous and wanted to get back to showing karate moves. My friend and I stayed about another 10 minutes and left. I thanked Red for the opportunity to be a part of it all and that was the last time I saw Elvis Presley alive, in person. When I heard of his death, I broke down and was useless the rest of the day. This is the first time I have ever given details of meeting Elvis and probably wouldnt have, had I not met so many Elvis fans on here, who are genuinely nice and caring people who adored Elvis. I hope some of you enjoyed reading my Elvis story, thanks.
