PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD This year we have already received confirmation of delegations from Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Mexico, Haiti, Trinidad, Belgium and the Netherlands. We expect confirmation from Malawi, Tchad, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands. With three weeks to go we expect to receive more participants from all over the world. We are excited because the international conference continues to grow. We strive to bring the ombudsman from all over the globe to Curacao in an effort to convert our annual conferences an exciting meeting place were ombudsman meet, share knowledge and network. At the same time we promote a close bond between the ombudsman of the Caribbean and Latin America. The mandate I received as President of the Caribbean Ombudsman Association, is to strengthen the bond between the Ombudsman of the Caribbean and the Ombudsman of Latin America. Our annual conference is a bridge that unites the Ombudsman. In bringing the best and most knowledgeable ombudsman and scholars to the island we also ensure that our local professionals can participate in our conferences and learn about the theme we chose each year. This year our theme is: The role of the ombudsman as the protector of the human and social rights of children and adolescents. The conference will also dedicate special attention to the protection of the undocumented children.
