PARTY THAT CRIES WOLF New scandal alert!!! BERGDAHL-GATE!!! Its amazing, and would be truly comical, if the GOP actions against President Obama werent so damn serious. Through dis-information and lie tactics, their actions create millions of ill-formed, delusional voters. The latest diatribe of mud-slinging against our Kenyan King Obama is that he returned a captured soldier, who had been in the brutal imprisonment of the Taliban for the last 5 years. This return of an American to American soil, as this country winds down the Afghanistan War, facilitated by a swap of Guantanamo-detained prisoners, should have been heralded as a solemn commitment that this country has had since the Revolutionary War--Leave no soldier behind. And initially Bowe Bergdahls return was overwhelmingly applauded as a patriotic moment. Even Republicans were tweeting their congratulations. But then they stopped cold in their tracks and actually starting deleting their tweets. Because then the right-wing blog machinery went into overdrive, with its own solemn commitment to NEVER allow this President any success. Now keep in mind, Bergdahl, who was in failing health, was held for FIVE YEARS, and during that time the US government, with the knowledge of Congress, was working through back-channels to move along the release of this soldier. Also, keep in mind, that a swap of the 5 Taliban prisoners, who have been held for 10 years or more, was always on the table. Now, according to the right, this imperial leader Obama has given up 5 actively-involved terrorists to the Taliban, to swap for an American, who suddenly is being tried and convicted on GOP blogs and Fox News, as a deserter, who caused deaths of American soldiers. Never in 5 years was there a discussion that Bergdahl was a deserter. We knew that he had wandered off at night and was captured by the Taliban, We knew that he was very disillusioned by the Afghan war, and at 20 years of age, may have made bad decisions. But now the blogoshere is filled with proven facts, from 2 former soldiers from Bergdahls platoon, nurtured and I believed hired by the RNC, that he left a letter (which no one has seen to date) saying he hated the war and was leaving for the mountains, and that every death for 6 months following Bergdahls capture, was attributable to the search for this soldier. If there is any truth to the desertion rumors, then these will be investigated once he is released from hospital care and is reunited with his family. Arent we still a justice system that is Innocent until proven guilty? As to the deaths of fellow soldiers, this has already been debunked, with the Pentagon carefully reviewing the records of all deaths after Bergdahls capture, and proving that none of them were connected directly with any search being done. The fact regarding Bergdahl is that as an American citizen, and a soldier who was left on the battlefield, there has never been a choice for any President as to whether or not to bring our imprisoned soldiers home. There is still a government agency today, with over 500 employees, whose sole job is to find the whereabouts or remains of thousands of missing or captured American soldiers, some dating back to WW II. That is how important this American tribute, to our fallen and imprisoned, is. Obama did the right thing in using all of Americas resources to bring this man home. Whether or not the desertion rumors ever prove true, Bergdahl will be adjudicated through the military justice system. His innocence or guilt could never have been considered by this President as to whether Bergdahl shoud have been brought home, or not. But the GOP is saying, was it worth it, to bring an alleged deserter, home? Actually in their warped world, Bergdahl is already a proven deserter. The supreme hyposcrisy is that when Obama used drone attacks to kill two Americans, a father and son, who had emigrated to the Middle East, and were planning and executing terrorist acts against our country and its soldiers, the GOPs outcry, was that these 2 Americans-turned-terrorists should have been granted due process of law and been brought back to the US. and appropriately tried. But for Bergdahl, no such due process is even being considered. Hes a deserter, who our terrorist-loving President, brought home to his family. And then the GOP got started on the prisoner swap authorized by Obama, How could King Obama let these feared terrorists out of Guantanamo? These terrorist-animals will certainly go back to their insurgent cells and kill Americans again. Well, a few facts to put this utter b.s. into perspective: One, these 5 Guantanamo detainees, all held for over 10 years, have been out of circulation, and are no longer going to be active in leadership. In fact, the Taliban call them grey-beards a somewhat derogatory term signalling their relative inert status. Their release will be for propaganda purposes more than anything else. Two, these detainees are under house arrest in Qatar for one year, and know that they can be watched and monitored through our drone program, which has been superbly effective in killing terrorists in the past. So if they get reintroduced into actual terrorist activity, they can be disposed of, as many hundreds of others have been. Three, we had held these prisoners for 10 to 12 years, and in that time never had any evidence to try them in court. If we had that evidence, they could, long ago, have been tried, executed or given life imprisonment. And with the Afghanistan war ending next year, the tenets of the Geneva Conventions international laws might very well have demanded their release, as all prisoners of war are released on both sides, at the end of a war. Four, if Obama had done nothing to bring Bergdahl home and he had died in the Taliban prison, CAN YOU IMAGINE THE SCREAMS FROM THE RIGHT THAT OBAMA HAD FORGOTTEN THIS SOLDIER AND CAUSED HIS DEATH??? I assure you that if Bergdahl had died over there, there would never have been a discussion of him being a deserter. And five, did anyone know that the Bush/Cheney era had actually swapped 532 prisoners of suspected terrorist activity, for the release of an equal amount of our own prisoners of war. Yeah, 532, and not a peep from the Republicans or even the opposition party. Why??? Because in the past, pre-Obama, this is what Presidents did and were praised for: BRINGING OUR SOLDIERS HOME FROM THE BATTLEFIELD. Also, as a side note, over 50 of those released did enter back into active terrorist cells, and commit crimes against Americans, Again, not a peep. But, not now. Like Obamacare-gate, Benghazi-gate, IRS-gate, NSA-gate, VA-gate, and now Bergdahl-gate, the right-wing has turned every action by this President into a scandal. And once they have investigated ad-nauseum, and exhausted one delusional scandal after another, they just move onto the next one. And in the process they raise the fever-pitch of the uninformed in this country, and keep Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck in overdrive, until the country, through polls and ratings, tells them to move on. But fear not, the GOP will find ever-more scandals to attempt to pin on this President. Because a political party that no longer governs or passes laws to help Americans, needs to occupy their days, weeks, and months, setting up select committees to investigate the latest fabricated scandal against President Obama. AND IN THE PROCESS, THE GOP HAS TRULY BECOME THE PARTY THAT CRIES WOLF...... Barry
