PASSENGER VESSEL SINKS AFTER COLLIDING WITH CARGO BOAT OFF TALISAY CITY By Joy Cherry S. Quito, Gabriel C. Bonjoc 32 mins ago (16 Aug 2013, 11:20pm) Two passenger vessels figured on a head-on collision in Lawis Ledge, off the coast of Talisay City, Cebu around 9 p.m. Thursday. According Commander Weniel Azcuna, chief of the Cebu station of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the passenger vessel MV St. Thomas Aquinas of 2Go collided with Sulpicio Express 7, a cargo vessel of the Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp. (PSACC). The 2Go vessel is reportedly carrying more than 600 passengers. The PCG is leading rescue efforts assisted by the disaster units of Talisay and Cebu cities. Lawis Ledge is a few kilometers from the Cebu City port, near the southern entrance of the Mactan Channel. MV Thomas Aquinas left the Nasipit port in Agusan del Norte around 12 noon today enroute to Manila, via Cebu. As of 11 p.m. unconfirmed reports said a hundred passengers have been rescued.
