PASSIONATE ZEAL Paul was not satisfied with the level he was operating. He desired and craved for more of God, rejecting all the glories and gains of the past. He wanted to fulfil his ministry, he wanted to be more relevant in God’s kingdom, he was consumed by a holy zeal that knew no bounds. He declared: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14). Paul also resolved to “beat” his body and bring it under subjection. Why? His aim is high. He realised there is yet a higher place that he must attain. This is true of all whose aim it is to succeed.
