ON THE MATTER OF TITHES (PART 2) (an edited message originally written by These lies must stop) PASTORS SHOULD NOT ONLY CONCENTRATE ON THE SCRIPTURES THAT FAVOURS THEM WHILE REJECTING THE SCRIPTURES THAT REBUKES THEM. Considering how much Mal 3:8-10 has been used to demand tithes, you owe God and yourself the duty of reading the entire four short chapters of Malachi. You will discover that God requires holiness and integrity as a condition for accepting your tithes and offerings. AND YOU WILL BECOME VERY CIRCUMSPECT ABOUT MINISTERS WHO DON’T CARE WHETHER YOU ROB MEN BY TAKING BRIBES AS LONG AS YOU “DO NOT ROB GOD”. Mal 1:6-10 A son honors his father, a servant honors his master. I am your Father and Master, yet you dont honor me, O priests, but you despise my name. Who? Us? you say. When did we ever despise your name? 7 When you offer polluted sacrifices on my altar. Polluted sacrifices? When have we ever done a thing like that? Every time you say, Dont bother bringing anything very valuable to offer to God! 8 You tell the people, Lame animals are all right to offer on the altar of the Lord- yes, even the sick and the blind ones. And you claim this isnt evil? Try it on your governor sometime-give him gifts like that-and see how pleased he is! 9 God have mercy on us, you recite; God be gracious to us! But when you bring that kind of gift, why should he show you any favor at all? 10 Oh, to find one priest among you who would shut the doors and refuse this kind of sacrifice! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will not accept your offerings. Living Bible Mal 1:11-14 For my name shall be great among the nations, says the Lord Almighty. 12 But you dishonor it, saying that my altar is not important and encouraging people to bring cheap, sick animals to offer to me on it. 13 You say, Oh, its too difficult to serve the Lord and do what he asks. And you turn up your noses at the rules he has given you to obey. Think of it! Stolen animals, lame and sick-as offerings to God! Should I accept such offerings as these? asks the Lord. 14 Cursed is that man who promises a fine ram from his flock and substitutes a sick one to sacrifice to God. For I am a Great King, says the Lord Almighty, and my name is to be mightily revered among the Gentiles. Living Bible Mal 2:7-9 Priests lips should flow with the knowledge of God so the people will learn Gods laws. The priests are the messengers of the Lord Almighty, and men should come to them for guidance. 8 But not to you! For you have left Gods paths. Your guidance has caused many to stumble in sin. You have distorted the covenant of Levi and made it into a grotesque parody, says the Lord Almighty. 9 Therefore, I have made you contemptible in the eyes of all the people; for you have not obeyed me, but you let your favorites break the law without rebuke. Living Bible Mal 3:1-4 Listen: I will send my messenger before me to prepare the way. And then the One you are looking for will come suddenly to his Temple-the Messenger of Gods promises, to bring you great joy. Yes, he is surely coming, says the Lord Almighty. 2 But who can live when he appears? Who can endure his coming? For he is like a blazing fire refining precious metal, and he can bleach the dirtiest garments! 3 Like a refiner of silver he will sit and closely watch as the dross is burned away. He will purify the Levites, the ministers of God, refining them like gold or silver, so that they will do their work for God with pure hearts. 4 Then once more the Lord will enjoy the offerings brought to him by the people of Judah and Jerusalem, as he did before. Living Bible How Pastors can read Malachi and ignore almost the entire book which rebukes Pastors for collecting lame and unworthy offerings, and focus almost exclusively on Mal 3:8-10 on tithes is tragic. Pastors are comfortable to have systems for checking who is paying tithes and firsfruits but there are very few who have systems for training converts to become true disciples, to check the heaven-readiness of the tithe payers, to minimize the flow of corrupt proceeds into the offering box. Pastors are comfortable to warn people not to rob God but conveniently forget to warn them not to rob men, and we know that in the world today several Christians are involved in making dishonest gains and collecting filthy lucre. It is okay to rob men, it is okay to pay and receive bribes, just tithe and give. Though it is not expressly preached, that is the practical depiction of what we practice in several churches. This is yet another big lie. Don’t be deceived, God is not pleased with testimonies of breakthroughs laden with hidden compromises, and facilitated by bribes and unrighteous designs. Your Pastor, Bishop or GO may receive the tithe and turn a blind eye, God does not. Unrighteous tithes, firstfruits and offerings have no record in heaven’s reward records; you may find them on the list for sanctioning and punishment. Even more serious is the risk that many Nigerian Christians face today, the risk of missing heaven due to the habitual payment and receiving of bribes. Pastors should start speaking the truth. . Our church seats should be made uncomfortable for those who are habitual bribe givers and takers; who will later come to give their unholy offerings and tithes. These young girls should be rebuked not to collect money from their boyfriend and bring it to the altar. Because it is harlotry money because they are not married. Fraudstars(yahoo yahoo boys) should be told not to bring their money for offering or tithes. If you are that pastor that is collecting every money that comes to the altar without letting your members know that unholy tithes and offering should not be brought to the house of God, you are in for trouble. You must teach your church this. Dont collect money and not care where they come from because you will be judged severely for this. And if you are still living in sin, you are prostituting and fornicating, and you earn money from these activities, please your offerings and tithes are not needed in the house of God. Stop laying more curse on yourself. Stop bringing your evil money to God. It is unacceptable. Repent from your sins before you can start to give to God and then you will be rewarded. If your pastor allows it, GOD doesnt permit it. Any pastor always concentrating on Malachi 3:8-10 without teaching all that the book of Malachi entails will have himself to blame at the end..Unholy tithes and offering gotten from prostitution, fornication, fraud, bribery and corruption must not be accepted by the pastors. Always warn your members concerning this. Do not be greedy or love money. You may have a very large church and it is not easy to check where every member works to earn money, you dont have to go that length. All you need to do is to always preach against unholy tithes as taught by Malachi, you dont have to force anyone on tithing. Just preach, by so doing, you will Save your own soul and the souls of your members. NOTE: This post is NEVER to encourage the none-payment of tithe or giving of offering in anyway...Please ALWAYS PAY your tithes and ALWAYS GIVE your offering. They are very vital for the work of God. But make sure your offerings and tithes are worthy and acceptable in the sight of God. The reason for this post, is to discourage Pastors and members from RECEIVING or GIVING UNHOLY tithes and offering. May God increase our understanding about this in Jesus name. Amen.
