PATIENT EDUCATION MODULE: 7: Thyroid Nodule Ultrasound Quick, painless, inexpensive, and accurate HYPERTHYROIDISM or over functioning of the thyroid gland may be due to a thyroid nodule. Once a thyroid nodule has been detected (or suspected), there are a few things that the physician will want to know before any recommendations can be made regarding treatment.
