PBA agrees to changes to draft lottery procedure after easing Rain or Shine concerns over cheating claim Rain or Shine co-owners Terry Que and Raymund Yu made it clear they were not happy with the way the PBA draft lottery was conducted on Tuesday night. Snow Badua PBA commissioner Chito Salud has agreed to institutionalize a more transparent procedure for the draft lottery after an uproar over the unprofessional manner it was conducted on Tuesday night. Salud had discussions with Rain or Shine co-owner Raymund Yu on Thursday after coach Elasto Painters coach Yeng Guiao hit out at what he claimed was the lack of transparency and class in the way the draft lottery was conducted by Commissioner Chito Salud and his staff. Adding fuel to the fire, a video of the procedure posted by fans online has gone viral, with some fans casting doubt on why Salud, after mixing three balls - two balls belonging to GlobalPort and one to Meralco - inside the box, never bothered to take his hand out again prior to drawing the winner. Salud picked a GlobalPort ball, giving the Batang Pier the top pick in next seasons rookie draft ahead of Rain or Shine, which owns Meralcos first-round pick in 2014 owing to the Ronjay Buenafe trade. After Saluds discussions with Yu, however, media bureau chief Willie Marcial said the league and Yu agreed that changes are necessary to make the draft lottery more transparent and above suspicion. Na-explain naman ng maigi (kay Raymund Yu) na wala namang intensiyon si Commissioner na ilagay sa alanganin ang Rain or Shine, said Marcial. Patas sa lahat ng miyembro ng liga si Commissioner. Rain or Shine officials had earlier told Spin.ph that they were inclined to seek a re-draw of the draft lottery, but Yu and co-owner Terry Ques fears were apparently eased after the discussions with Salud. Nag-usap na kami ni Commissioner. Wala naman kaming duda sa dignidad ni com, said Yu. Syempre, nagtanong lang kami, kasi nagtatanong na rin ang mga fans. Nagkalinawan naman kami. Marcial said Rain or Shine will now draft a formal letter to the Commissioners Office to set the changes in motion. Yun nga ang gusto namin, na sana mas maging maayos ang proceso ng lottery, said the Rain or Shine co-owner. Mag-invest na tayo sa maayos na kagamitan.
