PEGGY RADDATZ: Become an informed voter Posted by MNA Staff on March 21st, 2014 TO THE EDITOR: The Manistee News Advocate’s editorial page on March 8 featured an editorial titled, “Democracy occurs when we have a choice!” America is a country that was built on having choice at the ballot box, and we need to see more of that at our local level. Although the editorial referred to the appointment of a replacement for 5th District commissioner on the county board, it also rings true for all the open seats this November. The editorial’s ending statement was, “Giving the voters a choice is what democracy is all about, and we hope the residents of the 5th District will get the opportunity to exercise those rights in November.” The Manistee County Democratic Party is working hard to give Manistee County voters a real choice this November. The Manistee County Democratic Party will be hosting a Petition Day of Action and participating with the Mark Schauer For Governor, Gary Peters for U.S. Senate and General Jerry Cannon for Congress campaigns from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Dial-A-Ride in Manistee. Becoming an informed voter is the first step in the democratic process. So join us to sign petitions to place these candidates on the November ballot.
