PEN Toastmasters Vol. 6, No. 2 PESTICIDES IN THE VEGETABLES Pax Earth Toastmasters Cell (PTC) successfully conducted Vol. 6, No. 2 edition of PEN Toastmasters on the theme Pesticides in the Vegetables at the residence of Rajanee Tamang, Pax Earth prospective member, situated at Sukedhara, Kathmandu on Friday August 29, 2014. The program was called to order by President Sujan Koirala. He cordially welcomed the guests, speakers and audiences and wished for the success of the Toastmasters. He then introduced Toastmasters of the Day (TMD) – Manohar Sapkota and passed him the responsibility for conducting the program. TMD Sapkota introduced the evaluation team starting from General Evaluator Nilambar Badal, Speech Evaluator Sachin Koirala, Timer Kapil Deuja, Grammarian Kamala Basnet and Ah-Counter Sujan Koirala. He invited the manual speakers Laxman B. Pahari and Rounik Aryal respectively. Speaker Pahari presented his manual speech on Manab jivanma kitnashak ko prabhav (Impact of pesticides in human life) while speaker Aryal presented his manual speech on Aprangarik lai bahiskar, prangarik lai swikar (Rejection to inorganic, acceptance to organic). In Table Topics session, TMD Sapkota who also assumed the role of Table Topicsmaster announced three spot topics on the theme area respectively. Speakers Dina Nath Ray, Kishor Pd. Poudel and Jamuna Siwakoti respectively spoke on Tarkarima kina kitnashak? (Why pesticides in the vegetables?), Kitnashak prayogma kami lyauna yuvako bhumika (Role of youths in reducing the use of pesticides) and Kitnashak ko dirghakalin asar (Long-term effect of pesticides) by picking up the topics voluntarily. General Evaluator Badal called for the judgment reports from the evaluators. Accordingly, Timer Deuja, Grammarian Basnet, Ah Counter Koirala and Speech Evaluator Koirala presented their judgment on time used, grammar error, Ah counting error and specific aspects of the speeches. General evaluator Badal presented his judgment on general aspects of the speeches and the speakers. He also pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of each speaker and suggested ways to improve in future. From the vote counting, Rounik Aryal and Kishor Pd. Poudel were declared the best speakers in the respective sessions. President Koirala appreciated all five speakers for their valuable speeches. He praised the members of evaluation committee for their respective judgment. He thanked all the guests and audiences for their active participation. He expressed a sincere gratitude to Rajanee Tamang for her arrangement and serving delicious snacks for the participants.
