PEOPLE MANAGEMENT IN LEAN : More than any other ‘asset’ of an organization, people are perhaps the most volatile and easily damaged. Well-motivated people, especially when they are also competent, are the key to outstanding performance. When people are really ‘firing on all cylinders’ there is usually a complex set of factors at work which enable them to be motivated. These can include loving their work and being stimulated by it, feeling loyal to and valued by their employer, believing that they have a positive future and that their work helps contribute towards securing that. Lean organization structures can have very strong effects on employees’ morale because they hit directly at what many people find most motivating.
