PEOPLE OF FALKIRK. We had no idea when we thought up this collection day that it would be anywhere near as successful as it has turned out to be. We can now reveal the total donations so far exceed FIVE TONS in weight! An average serving of 400-500 grams means that everyone who donated, every single packet tin and box equates to OVER TEN THOUSAND MEALS On top of that hundreds of boxes of cereal, hundreds of personal hygiene products and more. Absolutely outstanding effort from everyone involved. A huge thanks to our close team of dedicated volunteers, the volunteers at food bank and also the on - the - spot volunteers who made convoys of donations on Saturday night and Monday morning. Thanks to the numerous volunteers and family members who helped organise the day, standing at collection points and at the steeple, where we got to meet and talk to lots of people. And the people who sorted out the mountain into types, dates etc (a monumental task) People can come together behind an idea, and it really shows the power of social media.
